Day 9 - Wellington

On Saturday our team went to Wellington, which is about an hour south on the train. Saturday is our evangelism day where we practice the principles and ideas that we have learned. So this weekend we wanted to get to know the city and the people. We sent 6 groups of 3 with video cameras to ask people 3 questions to get an idea of what people think. 2 of the questions were lighter, ice breaker questions and the 3 was "What is the purpose of life?"

My team was stationed on this street corner where there are tons of adult entertainment shops and clubs. We interviewed a lesbian couple, a couple christians, a few Maori, some intoxicated people and just some crazies. Its amazing how many people bring up and rip on George Bush when they hear our American accents.

We heard many answers to the purpose of life question. "To be yourself, To have lots of friends, Sex, drugs, rock and roll, to pass on your DNA..." Individualism and enviromentalism was a common theme that we heard many talk about.

We are going to compile all the footage for evaluation to help us decide how we can reach people while we are here. There are many extremely creative people here so I am excited for how these Saturdays will turn out.
